Vice President, Specialty Business Development
Leslie Yendro brings a strong clinical background and a proven track record of specialty pharmaceutical sales, contracting and management to her role as Vice President, Specialty Business Development for Optum Specialty Pharmacies. She is responsible for a department that conducts pipeline analysis for all of the company’s specialty business lines, responds to specialty RFPs, secures access to new manufacturer relationships and limited distribution drugs for the target disease states managed by the specialty pharmacy business unit. Ms. Yendro joined Avella Specialty Pharmacy in 2008, and after the acquisition by OptumRx is 2018, leads the team that is responsible for collaboration across the enterprise for expanding access in various specialty disease categories, including gene therapies. Ms. Yendro has held various sales, marketing and national account roles with both established and start-up pharmaceutical manufacturers. While managing specialty pharmacy partners for GSK, Celgene and MedImmune, Yendro gained considerable experience with limited distribution networks in both launch and product maturity phases. In her role leading business development for Avella, she was successful in establishing the pharmacy as a premier partner for limited distribution networks in orphan and rare diseases. Earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Illinois Wesleyan University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Saint Louis University, Yendro then specialized in oncology and held clinical and research positions at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. She is member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and serves on the education committee for the National Association of Specialty Pharmacy. Ms. Yendro resides in Chicago, loves to travel, and is an avid fan of college basketball.
